Fresh, local, seasonal food and fabulous places to eat and drink
From the freshest fish and chips on the beach to street food on the Marina Curve in Dover to fine dining in a country house restaurant, here in White Cliffs Country we're proud of our wonderful produce, fabulous food sellers and excellent places to eat. Many of our cafes, hotels, pubs and restaurants champion local food producers and you’ll find seasonal produce sourced from our fantastic growers and suppliers in our regular markets, food and drink festivals and speciality shops.
Much of the fish and seafood that appears on local menus is responsibly sourced from the nearby sea. Visit a local fishmonger for the catch of the day or buy fish straight from the boats along Deal seafront. The 2022 BBC Radio 4 Food Programme's prestigious Food and Farming 'Food Producer' award winner The Black Pig sells naturally reared, free range, locally sourced meat and specialises in nose-to-tail eating and artisanal butchery. Vegetarians and vegans are also well catered for by our cafes and restaurants.
Café culture is alive and well in White Cliffs Country - good coffee (other hot drinks are available) can be found on almost every street, ranging from well-known high street names to stylish independents. Real Deal Roasters sell their coffee beans at Deal's popular Saturday Market where you'll find lots of other lovely local produce.
Kent’s hop fields have made our local beer famous for hundreds of years, and a Kentish apple makes an excellent cider. Enjoy a pint or two in our many traditional or boutique pubs, as well as at the growing number of micro-breweries, such as Breakwater Brewery in Dover.
