Dover District Council and White Cliffs Country are helping independent traders get back to business with a new online search application so that residents and visitors can find local businesses that are open close to them.
The map-based app is available on the Dover District Council website and can be searched by location or postcode. The results show a listing of traders open for business in the district, along with their address, contact details, and websites (where applicable). The search radius can be personalised to cover local areas or the whole district.
Dover District Council has been registering business that have re-opened as part its Business Hub. The Hub provides a “one-stop-shop” for advice and guidance to local business as they re-open with the gradual easing of lockdown restrictions.
More local businesses are due to open from Saturday, 4 July, in line with the latest easing of restrictions. This will include pubs, restaurants, and hairdressers providing they adhere to COVID-19 Secure guidelines.
Some leisure facilities and tourist attractions may also reopen, if they can do so safely – this includes, cinemas, museums, galleries, theme parks and arcades, as well as libraries, social clubs, places of worship and community centres.
Local businesses can register online to have their details added to the database.
Cllr Trevor Bartlett, Leader of Dover District Council, said: “Through our Business Hub we’re providing independent traders with a single point of contact in the Council so that they can access the latest advice and guidance to re-open safely.
“A key part of getting back to businesses is letting people know that you are open, so we’re delighted to launch this online search facility that helps people find business that are open close to them.”
